Meet the Ringleader
David Weber began his exploration of all things mechanical early in life. Experiments in electronics led to mild electrocutions, but undaunted he sought knowledge wherever he could. He learned building trades from his father and older siblings. In college, he was hired at the lost-wax art foundry at Ohio University where he learned to cast, weld, patina finish, and polish bronze sculptures.
As an University of Indiana graduate student, he discovered the Bloomington based High Flyers Family Circus. There he learned acrobatic flying and catching, as well as care and set up for flying trapeze rigs. Subsequently, David was hired to catch for the Flying Espanas in circuses across the United States. He went on to become a singing ringmaster, producer and lighting designer for Ed Migley's Royal Hanniford Circus.
David and sister Dreya Weber (Aerial Choreographer for Pink, Cher, Madonna and more) conceived and directed the recreational trapeze program for the International Gymnastics Camp in Stroudsburg, PA. He designed and fabricated the camps flying trapeze rig - the first of three.
For Martin Espana’s circus in Puerto Rico, he conceived and constructed a one-of-a-kind cupola frame with integrated flying trapeze. For the 2002 Winter Olympics closing ceremonies, David invented cleats that allowed acrobats in jumping stilts to tumble on the ice.
As lead researcher/designer at Mectra Medical Equipment Manufacturing, he responded to surgical device demand by designing and creating medical instruments for which he now holds eight patents.
David custom fabricated gear and served as aerial associate for P!NK’s current tour. He built an aerial chandelier for Level 8 at the Moxy Hotel in Los Angeles, and a bespoke spreader system for a current production on Virgin Voyages Resilient Lady.
David founded Airtime Studios in 1997. He has produced and engineered many national and local recording artists, providing technical support and artistic collaboration. His subsidiary company, Airtime Acoustics is renown for the manufacture and installation of acoustic treatments for commercial spaces. For a complete CV, click here.
